Week 02 : Gouryella - Tenshi

This week the track ‘Tenshi’ will get some extra attention. After ‘Gouryella’ and ‘Walhalla’ this is the third track that was released under the ‘Gouryella’ alias. This third Gouryella release was also the last one (so far?) that was done by Ferry Corsten together with Tijs Verwest (a.k.a. DJ Tiësto).

‘Tenshi’ is a Japanese word, which means ‘Angel’. This track is a bit more techy as the other 2 Gouryella releases, which were both more trance sounding. The original vinyl release of ‘Tenshi’ was in September 2000 on ‘Tsunami’ (Catalogue number: TSU 6021). The track was released in other countries as well (see below). On the US releases of the vinyl and CD, there was put a ‘CJ Stone & Cabba Kroll Remix’, but… This remix doesn't exist! CJ Stone & Caba Kroll never made a remix of the ‘Tenshi’ track! The version that came by accident on the US release is actually ‘Potatoheads - Mix The Master (CJ Stone & Caba Kroll's Club Mix)’.

In 2003 the Japanese record company ‘Avex Trax’ released a classical remake of ‘Tenshi’ (Version Classique) on the CD ‘Velfarre Cyber Trance 09’. This version [3:16] was made by the ‘Orchestre Cyber France de Paris’.

Tenshi is one my favortie track all the time. And I love the Transa remix, it's freaking good. It never gets old. I also like the music video.

yeh tenshi is such a great track! i love all the gouryella tracks... they sound sooo damn good.

i remember being at a rave when ferry dropped this track.. went nuts!

i do luuuurve tenshi but was a bit disappointed the first time i heard it, the lead up to the main riff is staggeringly beautiful and i wasnt expecting a classical style drop, thought it was gonna be a massive melodic riff a la carte blanche. but on hearing it in a club, it rocks.

oh, well, considering it was realy a vangelis song classed Light & SHodow first befour Gouryella Coverd it and rasied all the keys by one...
I'm Sooooooooooooo suprised no one notaced it at all... Its realy, a remix of gailic [whatever it is] singing, which was part of teh movie, and sound track, 1492!

and with teh other Gouryella tracks too...

Regardless, thoe, its a good remix... But, its easy to applt the trancelation from that type of music to the way gouryella did it. Its just depends on how you do the chords...

The melody was indeed borrowed from famous Greek composer, Vangelis' "Light And Shadow" from the 1492: Conquest of Paradise [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack] (in 1992).
There is also a classical version of Tenshi (not Light And Shadow) done by Orchestre Cyber France de Paris titled, Tenshi (Version Classique), and was released on velfarre Cyber TRANCE 09 BEST HIT TRANCE in 2003 under the Avex Trax label.

Tenshi [tehn-shee] - From the Japanese, with its most commonly seen meaning in Anime being "angel", although it can also mean "emperor", "nature/natural elements" or a "heavenly gift". Some classical Japanese and Asian literature and mythology used this term to refer to the emperor as the "son of heaven".
In the end, I think it all depends on what you decide. ;)

I think that that one is one of the 'home made' remixes, so it's not an official one as far as I know.
