Week 14 : Yoji Biomehanika – A Theme From Banginglobe (System F Remix)

In 2002 Ferry was on tour in Japan. During one of the events, he was listening to a set of Japanese DJ Yoji Biomehanika, who had to play in the same club as Ferry that night. At one point, Yoji played a track, which had a beautiful riff in the middle of it. This track grabbed Ferry’s attention straight away, so he wanted to know what track that was. Ferry was standing next to somebody who worked for the Japanese recordcompany Avex, so Ferry asked him if he knew what that track was. The guy replied that it was a track by Yoji Biomehanika himself. It was the track ‘A Theme From Banginglobe’, which would see its release on Yoji’s UK based label ‘Hell House Recordings’.

During Ferry’s next visit to Japan, Yoji and Ferry had a meeting in Osaka, which is Yoji’s hometown. They both had dinner in a nice restaurant and over there they talked about each others productions. Ferry told Yoji that he really liked the melody and the riff of the ‘A Theme From Banginglobe’ track, but that it was too hard to play for him in his sets. So Ferry suggested to do a ‘System F’ remix of it. On the other hand Yoji told Ferry that he really liked the Gouryella track ‘Ligaya’ a lot, but that it was too soft for him to play in his sets. So during the dinner the idea was born that they both would remix each others track. And we all know the result…

Sorry, but I think that you are wrong. I've never heard about a DJ Scot Project remix of 'A Theme From Banginglobe' myself. It's not listed on Discogs and I couldn't also find it on the official DJ Scot Project homepage...

I remember reading about the story before, haha. Funny how Ferry says Yoji's track is too hard while Yoji says Ferry's track is too soft.
It would a be awesome if they collab again on a mini project, but I'm guessing it's just a one time thing.

Anyway, I really can't say much on this except that Ferry has yet found another excellent piece of music. That's what happens when you travel, you explore to discover new music. This was a good example of a brilliant discovery.
As for the system F remix, I'd describe it as a cross between Exhale and Ligaya (Ferry Corsten Remix). A combination of both track's soundscapes, not too energy although I wish it was as much as energy as in Exhale, with a major break you'd expect; and a similar buildup as in Ligaya. Overall, it's acceptable for the awesome melody. Just the energy in the system F remix was less than I had expected it to be for such a great melody.
In all, it's definately one to add to your collection!

I heard a story by Yoji himself saying that little children aren't actually scared of him in Japan. In fact, there they think he's some sort of character who came out of a comic book ;)

it doesn't mean everyone in Japan reads (Manga) comic books, there are grown-ups too who read normal (Japanese) literature ;)

Just got my hands on this track, it is absolutely stomping, an excellent Remix!!!

The start of it is a little Drum n Bass, then "Bangin' Globe" "Bangin' Globe" "Bangin' Globe" "Bangin' Globe" "Bangin' Globe" "Bangin' Globe" "Bangin' Globe" "Bangin' Globe", then there is an airoplane and a shimes sounds going on. Then the Ferry Corsten workout starts...... This track is simply awesome. Does anyone know whay Ferry likes Asia so much because Ferry does so many great remixes for the Asian community.

I can not put down my feelings for this track!
