I'm a 100% bedroom dj, but i also really like playing some records. The records that i spin are mostly club / trance / house but i've also played some harder styles some time ago. But now i really prefer club / trance / house.

I've made some pictures of my equipment:
Overview (http://www.tricky.dds.nl/gear/IMGP1076.jpg)
SynQ X-trm 1 + concorde pro (http://www.tricky.dds.nl/gear/IMGP1068.jpg)
Numark DM3002X + sony MDR V-700 + some high end speakers for some monitor sound. (http://www.tricky.dds.nl/gear/IMGP1070.jpg)

The flightcases are handmade by me and my brother, that's why there isn't any foam present yet at the sides of the TT :p But not for long anymore :D

I spin under the name Kiddo at a small club on the north side of Chicago on Saturday nights. I mostly spin techno, bangin techno, and some trance, and I am VERY new to DJing.

I use my own Technics 1200MK5's.
I use the club's Pioneer DJM-500 mixer (it's ancient!! :o )
Occasionally, I will use the clubs CDJ-100s (also ancient!).

Here is a link to a mix I did at the club from 9-11-2004, if anyone is interested...I am still learning, so it's not great! :o

you can download it by clicking here, or copy and pasting the link into your media player:

2 Ortofon Nightclub Cartriges
1 Tascam X-9 mixer(with all updates)
1 Sony Mdr-v700
1 Road Ready 80 record case

I dont have a cdj because they are too expensive to have in a home set up and as for dj name i havent found one that fits me so right now im just Ruben Martinez. I play a mix of Tiesto Ferry Armin and Mark Norman style sets, i play light vocals but do not focus on them specifically, i play ferrys new electro stuff although it is still experimental for me. My current favorite lables are Tsunami, Magik Muzik, Anjuna beats, Asot

I will post pictures later on

Hey my names Tom, I dont have a dj name so just use my real name.

I play at a few places and vary my style accordingly. I play at a club in Windsor and also 2 in London that are Ferry style Trance\Electro Trance. Then I also play at a pub in my home town where I do trippy melodic tech house, James Holden, Petter, Nathan Fake kinda stuff.

I took out a loan over a year to buy my decks and mixer, then paid for the cd player with the left overs of another loan when i bought my car more recently.

But I never went to university, been in full time employment since I was 18 so didnt have all the financial burdens of student life.

I Know that my gear is a lot of money but i didnt buy it all at once. i bought 1 turntable then the other after like a month and i saved for my mixer for like 3 months. i spun with my crappy set up for like 2 years then i got a stanton mixer then kept upgrading. i originally started out with one of those Dj in a box set ups from Numark, it came with a 2 channel mixer and 2 direct drive turntables, some no name cartriges, and crappy headphones. It doesnt matter what type of equipment you used as long as it works for you, the most important thing is your vinyl and to a lesser extent your CD-R's. Buy as much vinyl as often as you can, try to stay away from old stuff except for the classics otherwise you will never be able to grow as a dj put at least an hour and a half set down every day and dont get angry when you make a mistake, dont worry no one will be there to hear you in your room. Dont set your mind on a particular sound right away, listen to all types of music and follow what you feel you can do the best, funkyhouse is the easiest to learn with and drum and bass is the hardest to learn, find you niche!

That's one thing for sure, and if you aren't able to buy expensive fancy gear, just take a little step back so you also got some money for buying vinyl.

i use the 2xsynQ x-trm 1 and i'm really happy with it, they really are quite simular of the technics but the cost about € 200 less. So 2 x € 200 = € 400, - that you can spend on vinyl :D
