Week 29 : OceanLab featuring Justine Suissa - Clear Blue Water (Ferry Corsten Remix)

One of the most well known vocal trance acts from the past few years is ‘OceanLab’. The three producers who are behind this project are Jonathan ‘Jono’ Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki. This UK based producers trio is also known for other electronic dance music projects such as ‘Above & Beyond’, ‘Dirt Devils’, ‘Tranquility Base’ and ‘Free State’ to name a few. Besides those projects Jono, Tony and Paavo did remixes for several artists such as Madonna, Dido, Britney Spear,s Delerium, Perpetuous Dreamer, Motorcycle and lots of others. Furthermore they are DJ-ing as well and last but not least they have their own recordcompany, which is called ‘Anjunabeats’.

The first track that was released under the ‘OceanLab’ alias was the song ‘Clear Blue Water’. The vocals in this track are performed by Justine Suissa. Justine is a famous vocalist from the UK. In the year 1999 she already worked together with producer Nick Bracegirdle for his ‘Chicane’ project. The vocals on the ‘Chicane’ track ‘Autumn Tactics’ (which is taken from the ‘Behind The Sun’ album) were also done by Justine. In 2001 Jono, Tony and Paavo asked her if she wanted to be the vocalist of their new project ‘OceanLab’. ‘Clear Blue Water’ was the first track that was released by them.

There are several remixes done of the track. The German duo ‘Hennes & Cold’ did 2 remixes of ‘Clear Blue Water’ and Jono, Tony and Paavo did a remix under their ‘Above & Beyond’ alias as well. Some Dutch people were also asked to remix the track: Geert Huinink did a remix, Robert Verkerk and DJ Astrid did a remix under their ‘Walter Solo’ alias. And Ferry Corsten also delivered a nice trance remix of the track.

Yes, this one is a masterpiece. Me likes it a lot. In my opinion it's one of Ferry's best 5 remixes ever.

I had no clue ‘OceanLab’ was Above and Beyond! Geez.. haha.. Anyway, this song is amazing! I agree with Horhew, one of Ferry's best! And, what is the difference between the Ferry Corsten Remix and Ferry Corsten Radio Edit? Because, all I have is the radio edit.

EDIT: Ohh.. It's just shorter. Hmm I'll have to hear the other one then.

Does it really need "feat. Justine Suissa" in the title since Oceanlab is already Above & Beyond and Justine Suissa?

Can I ask what are the Lyrics to this DM? As there is no Lyrics synopsis.

I get from the track, I might be wrong, this is my interpritation. This is a very touching tune, I think that there is an element of space, tranquillity, something to do with being able to do something regardless and the feeling of ease with the surroundings. There is also an element of not being suffercated by repression? I think that the track does represent alot of feelings from both the composer and Ferry the remixer.

it was a good idea to have week number on the main topic. It's easier to keep on track for each week.

I could listen to this track over, and over, and over and never get sick of it.

There is just something about the vocals that makes the track special.
