Week 32 : F. Massif - Somebody (Ferry Corsten Remix)

The electronic dance music project ’F. Massif’ is a collaboration between Dutch producers Hugo Soss and Frank van den Brink. In August 2003, the first ‘F. Massif’ track ‘Understatement’ saw its vinly release on the main label of the Dutch record company Purple Eye Entertainment. In February 2004, the follow up track was released as well by Purple Eye. The second ‘F. Massif’ track is a vocal track, which is titled ‘Somebody’. Hugo and Frank wrote both the lyrics and the music for this track themselves. The vinyl release saw the light in February 2004 and one month later an extra vinyl with remixes of ‘Somebody’ was released. The most well known remix (which is even more famous as the original version of the track!) is done by Ferry Corsten. Ferry’s remix has some electro, house and trance influences in it. The entire feeling of his remix is a bit more dark and mysterious. Together with the combination of the vocoded male vocals it works very well on the dance floor.

’F. Massif’ also made some remixes for other acts and artists such as Ronald van Gelderen (‘Crying Out’), Soulvation’ (‘Deeper’) and last but not least Ferry Corsten’s track ‘Rock Your Body, Rock’ had a nice remix done by the two guys.

Lyrics:
Do you want me?
Like I want you? (x3)

Do you want me?
Like I want you?
And you want to
Be my mistress

I will tell you
Where to go to
Don't you worry
There's no witness (x4)

Do you want me?
Like I want you? (x2)

Do you want me?
Like I want you?
And you want to
Be my mistress

I will tell you
Where to go to
Don't you worry
There's no witness (x2)

simply put, one of the best ferry remixes ever! i noticed this is widely recognised as a classic track, and appreciated even by serious anti-ferry persons. it must be its unique sound and lack of resemblance with any other trance track I know. that's originality!

No surprise the FC remix was more popular, the original made my ears bleed! Supremely awful. How Ferry managed to clean that track up and make it the monster it became is beyond me. You could call this remix quite M.I.K.E.-ish :army:
