Week 40 : Ferry Corsten featuring Shelley Harland – Holding On
For his ‘Right Of Way’ album (2003), Ferry Corsten worked together with a few vocalists. One of them is British singer, songwriter and producer Shelley Harland. In the past Shelley already colaborated with artists such as ‘Junkie XL’, ‘DJ Rap’, ‘Delerium’ to name a few. On Ferry ‘s ‘Right Of Way’ album you can find 2 tracks where she has written the lyrics for and has performed the vocals on: ‘Skindeep’ and ‘Holding On’.
The album version of ‘Holding On’ is a nice ballad with some electro influences and of course Shelley’s vocals. For the vinyl release Ferry went into the studio again and he turned the track into a cool, pumping version which works great on the dancefloors. That version was released later as ‘Ferry Corsten’s Flashover Remix’. Early March 2005 the vinyl was released on the ‘Tsunami’ label (Cat. nr. TSU 6054). ‘Holding On’ was also remixed by Above & Beyond, Luke Chable and for the Spanish release David Giménez and Miguel Sassot did a remix under their ‘Sassot & David Con G’ alias.
