Week 41 : Marco Borsato – De Bestemming (Ferry Corsten Remix)

Marco Borsato (Born in Alkmaar, The Netherlands on December 21, 1966) is the most famous singer in The Netherlands. He started his career in 1990 After winning the ‘Soundmixshow’ (on April 7, 1990) with his performance of Billy Vera’s track ‘At This Moment’. In 1990 he released his very first track ‘Emozione’, which was a track in Italian language (Marco’s family is from Italian origin). Something later he started to release tracks in Dutch and he gained a lot more success with the Dutch tracks. One of the highlights in Marco’s career was in 1994 when his track ‘Dromen Zijn Bedrog’ reached the number 1 position in the Dutch single charts. It stayed there for 12 weeks and in total it stayed in the charts 28 weeks!

In 1998 Marco’s track ‘De Bestemming’ had been released. The song was taken from his album ‘De Bestemming’ and the music and the lyrics of it were written by John Ewbank. John’s name might sound familiar to some of you and indeed … John Ewbank also wrote the main melody of the track ‘Ligaya’ for Ferry’s ‘Gouryella’ project! And in the past Ferry released some tracks and remixes for John’s record label ‘Native Dance Recordings’.

The original version of ‘De Bestemming’ became a huge hit in the Dutch single charts and just as some other tracks of Marco, this one also reached the number one position in all charts. It reached the number one position and it stayed there for 3 weeks. In 2005 ‘De Bestemming’ had been released as a bonus track on the ‘Muziek 10 Daagse’ CD. The ‘Muziek 10 Daagse’ is an annual event that takes place in all record stores in The Netherlands. In 2005 the event was held from October 5 till October 15. One of the most important concepts of the 2005 edition, was the release of the unique Dutch album ‘Made In Holland’. Marco Borsato has asked Ferry Corsten to remix one of his tracks especially for this album. Ferry choose to remix ‘De Bestemming’ and it was a big challenge for him to remix a ballad in Dutch language to a track with a dance sound. “De Bestemming is my personal favourite single of Marco. The positive message and the great choice of chords make the track suitable to create a dance version without ruining it’s original style.” says Ferry Corsten.

The Ferry Corsten remix of Marco Borsato’s ‘De Bestemming’ is a remarkable combination of two completely different styles in music and it can only be found on the free album ‘Made in Holland’.
For purchases for 15 Euro or more in any record shop in Holland, people could get this album for free.

Lyrics:

Still think this is a good tune, even if it's a bit strange to listen to dutch singing :p

i have to admit that this remix just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's the dutch lyrics, I don't know. the fact is, I haven't been able to listen to it more than twice. oups!:p

Yeah it is a bit weird listening to dutch vocals but the vocals work very well with the melody and the result is a very good uplifting remix from Ferry!:)

I truly HATE Marco Borsato, but this remix is mindblowingly good! It's one of the best examples of Ferry's brilliance. To take something so crappy and turn it into something so beautiful...

Awesome!

The only trance track I've heard with Dutch vocals! Really like the Irish flute sound, kudos to you once more Mr. Corsten
