Part 062 : Matt Darey presents Mash Up - Liberation (Temptation - Fly Like An Angel) (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Matt Darey (born in Leicester, UK) is a famous DJ / producer / remixer, who’s active in the scene for a long time already. He was still a marketing student when he had his first hit record. Some of his most famous tracks are ‘Beautiful’, ‘Point Zero’ and of course ‘Liberation (Temptation - Fly Like An Angel). The original track of ‘Liberation’ was finished by Matt back in 1997. One year later he decided that he wanted to have vocals over the track. So he asked vocalist Marcella Woods (who is the sister of producer Michael Woods) to perform those vocals. When the vocal track was finished, Matt handed over the track to Ferry Corsten, who started on doing a remix of it. The result was an amazing remix and after the release in 1999, the track got a nice number 20 position in the charts.
The story behind the ‘Mash Up’ name, is because Matt Darey spent most of his time mashed up in the clubs (on the other side of the decks). He used to write tracks on a Sunday when he got back from the clubs, staying awake till he finished it. According to Matt himself he made most of his big tunes that way. Other remixes were done by Solar Stone, Condor and Matt Darey himself.
In the year 2005 the track was re-released with brand new remixes done by people such as Factoria, Ian Betts, Terry Bones, Andy Bagguley and some others as well.
