Part 066 : Hole In One - Amhran In 7th Phase (Ferr's Subliminal Recut)
Dutchman Marcel Hol is the producer who’s behind projects such as ‘Greyhouse’, ‘Techno Matic’, ‘Organza’ and many others. But his most famous project is the ‘Hole In One’ project. The first release under this alias was in 1992 on the ‘First Hole’ EP. on the Dutch based ‘See Saw’ label. In 1997 Marcel had his biggest hit, which was the ‘Hole In One’ track ‘Life’s Too Short’. This track even became a hit in the UK charts and it got remixed by people such as ‘Atlantic Ocean’ and ‘Stretch & Vern’ for example.
In 1996 Marcel finished a track, which is really hard to describe in a certain genre. So maybe it is best described as a house / minimal / techno / progressive / trance track. Marcel decided to call this production ‘Amrad In The 7Th Phase’. This one was released later on the ‘Nutrition’ label, which is a sub-label from the Dutch ‘Essential Dance Music’ company. Besides the original version and the track ‘Notch’, you can find a remix on the B-side, which was done by Ferry Corsten under his ‘Ferr’ alias. The full name of this remix is called ‘Ferr's Subliminal Recut’. Marcel and Ferry were friends for many years and in the past the worked together in the studio and they have remixed each others track as well.
At the end of 1999 John Digweed decided to put this remix by Ferry on his ‘Global Underground 014: Hong Kong’ album, so the track got rediscovered again by many people. So ‘Nutrition’ decided to re-release it again in 2000. The title of the track was slightly changed, so this time it got ‘Amhran In 7Th Phase’ as title. On this new release you can find a new remix, which was done by Dutch producers / remixers Henri Lookers, Ronald Fiolet and DJ Bobellow (Gert-Jan Bel) under their ‘The Shrink’ alias.
