Ferry Corsten is one of the most in-demand and successful DJ’s in the world, with fiercely dedicated fans known to follow him from city to city and gig to gig. But within the close-knit international DJ community, he’s regarded as something more: a studio, author with a fierce sense of sonic rightness; a real-deal producer creating the most complete, lavish, melodic records in dance music. In his sixteen year production career Corsten is one of the most prolific and successful dance artists in the market today.

With tons of releases, remixes and compilations, countless gold discs, numerous awards, nine artist albums under his belt and travelling the globe back and forth to feast audiences with his flawless DJ sets, the time had come to take on a new challenge. In collaboration with Dutch organisation UDC Events, Ferry Corsten presented “Full On Ferry – Masquerade” on the 27th of October 2007 in Ahoy, Rotterdam. An event which captured virtually the entire electronic spectrum, from sexy house to infectious electro and rough techno, with melodic trance trying it all together.

Taking of the masks of his alternate identities which he preciously used for many releases in the past symbolizes the broadening of Corsten’s musical horizons, explain the theme ‘Masquerade’ to the fullest. During Full On Ferry, his musical philosophy was optimally translated into sound, image, atmosphere and decoration, supported by internationally acclaimed artists like Erick E, Fedde Le Grand, Cosmic Gate, Christopher Lawrence, Dogzilla, Secret Cinema vs. Grooveyard and rising trance star Breakfast. A handful of world-class DJ colleagues, handpicked by Corsten personally.

This live registration DVD reflects Corsten’s versatility and his current musical vision, during what easily could be the very best gig in his impressive and successful career so far.

I'm using my debit card (bank card), but it has a visa logo on it...

Credit Card will mean using your credit or debit card so your bank card is a debit card and Bank Transfer will mean a funds transfer/bill payment so you'll transfer money into their bank account.;)

Anyway Twan is the CD going to be released with this package or is it going to be released seperately?

I've officially ordered it! :D

But now I'm concerned because they didn't ask for the number at the back of my debit card (CVC#?), plus it doesn't say it is going to be sent to my state California, it just has my city and country on it. I just want to make sure I receive my shipment. :o

the live registration means u just watch it online?!

Umm...I think it means that you get to see the whole live event, including people entering the event? ;)

For example, I don't have the Armin Only 2006 DVD, but it does say "Live Registration" on it. :)

EDIT: I think I remember from the videos, that there was an intro movie of Ferry driving towards the event. Maybe the "live registration" is some kind of countdown to the arrival of Ferry?

Exactly!! They're trying to make loads of money. To be honest it's the most shipment for a CD/DVD order I ever experienced and sometimes there's been 3 or 4 in an order from overseas!! Then, they charge you for using your debit or credit card as well!! And last they charge you VAT on top of the order, now you'd think the VAT was already in the price of the items. So you get VAT'd for the item(s), the credit or debit card charge and the shipment costs! I don't know why this wont see a normal release in the shops like at HMV as Tiesto's concert DVD's including his latest Elements Of Life one, you can just pop in and buy it with ease!

I don't know why this wont see a normal release in the shops

I don't know what gives you that impression, but it will be available as well (in The Netherlands) in the shops for sure. It's just out, Mid-Town released it, so you can buy it already at their website. I'm sure Free Record Shop and the other stores will have it now as well.

But at the Mid-Town store, you get it including the Dance Valley 2007 double CD mixed by Ferry.

Edit: And if they send a DVD + CD it has to be send as a package and not as a letter, that's why the shipping rates are higher than when you just send a DVD or a CD, but now it's send together.

I totally understand what you are saying but to charge about £10 for delivery for even 2 items is ludicrous! Like I said I've ordered 3 or 4 from further affield like Japan and USA and on each ocassion the shipping costs have been no more than half that. It's not just the shipping costs, its all the additional costs, I think they are well overboard!

Wasn't this release suppposed to be released with a mix CD from FULL ON FERRY? I'm 100% sure that this is supposed to be the case but I'll leave that to you to find out when it will see a release Twan!;)

Nope. There will be no CD from the event. I believe it was mentioned in a flyer that was handed out at Full on Ferry, but that must have been a mistake, since there were never plans to release a CD.

I'll try to after the shipping costs issue next week!

Shipping issues:

1) No choice of shipping. Is it regular post or is it priority?
2) Cost of shipping
3) No way to track shipment.

Ridiculous shipping costs are more rule than exception with specialty stores on the web. Armada applies the same policy. They seduce you with an acceptable price for the product and then screw you over on shipping and handling. I ain't ordering sh!t from companies like that.

I would have bought it from HMV UK but seen as it will only be in the stores in the Netherlands, it sucks. You can get Tiesto's concert DVD's in the shops or online stores in the UK, but oh no no there has to be a problem with getting Ferry's concert DVD that way!! Tiesto did his concerts all around the world and Full On Ferry was only in The Netherlands, so I don't think (not sure though!!!) that there are plans to release it worldwide. Maybe they can order it by import for you? I don't know how they work tbh.

And I'm pretty sure more online shops in The Netherlands will have it online for sale later as well :)

Just recieved mine by courier service this morning. No wonder the shipping cost was so much, they packaged it well and securely, a bit too well if you ask me I had to use a blade to open the box and there were loads of little polystyrene bits in there for support!! But its all good at least that meant the DVD and CD were well protected through transit!!! Gonna watch it when I have time jus got back from work very tired!!;)

p.s. they were very very tight with the exchange rate, normally it's 1.50 Euros to the pound and they converted it to 1.25 Euros to the pound!!

*Just a warning to US buyers, I think the DVD is in PAL format, not NTSC! I was unable to play it on most DVD players in my house, but I was able to play it on my laptop!*

It's a great DVD overall, but I'm a bit disappointed there's no footage of Christopher Lawrence. I was also hoping that Possession or the live Dogzilla performance would be shown. :(

I like the effects, even though they seem unnecessary at times, and block a good size of the video. It also has the last bit of the intro video of Ferry parking/entering Ahoy for the intro of the "movie", and I thought that was cool. The little booklet that comes with the DVD has some interesting "Ferry Facts". The B2B with Fredde Le Grand was awesome! :D

I want a behind-the-scenes/making of feature next DVD! :p

Oh, Losha and Eve were all over the DVD! :-O I also saw a bit of Sheila, Ant, Anlong, Sara, Moh, other forumees I can't remember, and Twan? (Were you wearing a black shirt?)

I got extremely lucky and bought one brand new on a local second hand trading site here in NL for 12 euro.

Since I wasn't able to go to the event itself I can't really say if it's an accurate representation of the night but I sure liked it. Saw quite a few people that I had the pleasure of meeting in person at previous Ferry gigs.

It is a bit short though, basically only one song per artist and it's over before you know it. The sound is awesome! Excellent work on the post production there

For the UK, there's the option to buy it at Juno.co.uk:

http://www.juno.co.uk/ppps/products/312882-01.htm

As far as why it's not available in UK shops, I guess Mid-Town don't have a UK distributor as none of their other releases make it either, like the Dance Valley CDs. Black Hole do and have had one for many years (Pinnacle (http://www.pinnacle-entertainment.co.uk/index.php)), hence all Tiësto's CDs and DVDs being widely available in the usual high street shops.

The man in the mask

Nine own albums, dozens of singles, remixes and compilation CDs that are sold over 2 million times altogether. World hits such as 'Gouryella', 'Punk', 'Rock Your Body Rock' and 'Fire' are his signature tracks. Forever credited in the dance music chronicles with the classic trance anthem 'Out Of The Blue'. Many awards won and received. Weekly his successful radio show 'Corsten's Countdown'. He brings fully packed dance floors to boiling points. He produces and plays at the highest level. We may say, and I say it with pride, that Ferry Corsten is on the absolute top.

For such a top position, there is an individual festive night. A night-filling solo performance full of visual awesomeness and with diverse guest appearances. Ferry Corsten wanted his 'Tiesto in Concert', his 'Armin Only', and he created it. He presented his musical spectrum in its entire width and breath, and gave internationally acclaimed artists such as Erick E, Fedde Le Grand, Cosmic Gate, Christopher Lawrence, Dogzilla, Secret Cinema vs. Grooveyard and upcoming trance talent Breakfast a spot in the line-up. The DVD 'Full On Ferry - The Masquerade' highlights Ferry's Feast of October 27, 2007 in Rotterdam. And it shows that it is a gala at Ahoy. A Masquerade!

Ferry Tale

It has to be a fairy-tale to be there, in the middle of all the attention and curiosity in an excited Ahoy. Upon a floating podium, in the middle of thousands of fans who particularly have come to this party to see you. Sometimes, the reality is even more beautiful than a fairy-tale, and Ferry enjoys it with every breath he takes. The joy and the fun radiates from within him to the entire space, not only his own DJ sets, but also the back-2-back sets with his guests. The enthusiasm alone of the protagonist makes it a delightful DVD.

And then the music. Gee, when the DJ booth already floats, what will it be for the people on the dance floor? Look at the tracklisting, look, listen and float along. Despite the DVD is assembled using loose footages, there is a good flow in it. It sounds as one whole, and the pace remains steady. Usually the trouble with many guest appearances is short interruptions, but in the DVD there are no interuptions. Excellent! Both new and old highlights come into the spotlights. The anthem 'Masquerade' was specially composed for this event, 'Out Of The Blue' is the big bang with which history was written in 1999, and one of my favourit trance classics, the out-throwing track 'Madagascar', in the remix of Ferry himself. The musical offer was diverse in both styles and subgenres. The host himself cannot be put in one pidgeon hole. Let the extravert guest list play, and you have the recipe for a top event: a little house, a bit of techno, a slice of electro, and a heap of melodic trance as the binding component. With exactly the right dosage of the characteristic voice of the legendary MC Marxman, to add more flavour to the mix.

For your point of view

The editing is serene, and I agree with that, there is plenty to see. The fireworks and the impressing light and laser shows already give a rushing sensation, and do not require hasty or violent editing. The ratio overall shots, close-ups and crowd shots are good. It's to be said that some visitors are on screen several times, but oh well, the audience looks beautifully dressed and the atmosphere is very much on the foreground. Also, the audience sounds are present in an adequate way as a back-up, and it gives it a life-like effect. Audio andvideo are definitely good. One hour may be short, but is one hour of purely enjoying concert footages. No interviews, no making-of, just a pure on hour!

Ferry Fucking Corsten

Do you have to take this man seriously, who once sat and drank with the company of Madonna and others, without noticing it was her? Very seriously! Ferry Corsten belongs to the world top. His many musical masks prove it time after time, and also this 'Masquerade' Live DVD can also be added to his List of Immortals. A beautiful reminiscence to everyone who was there. And for whom who have missed 'Full On Ferry', also on behalf of the writer of this article, this is an extra boost to be part of this year's edition: November 1st, 2008. Same place, same bass! Everything is beautiful!!!

Score: 84/100
