We were gonna spend the weekend in London but by the sounds of it, it takes ages to get to Sheffield so I think we will fly straight to Liverpool and train to Sheffield. What times do the trains head back on the Sunday? We need to sort our flights back and there are 2, one leaving around 3ish and the other around 7ish.
They're not as long as I thought. Just emailed you. Check it out!

See Leeds and Manchester for once and your gonna be in Sheffield anyway so you can check it out!!
Manchester you must see though just such a beautiful metropolis!!
Both Leeds and Manchester are about 40 mins train ride away from Sheffield and cost about £12 return so it really is convenient! Hope this helps Shiela!!
Cant wait to see you all there!!!!!!

"3 Hours of Massive Energy" From Ferry Corsten at Gatecrasher's 15th Birthday back in Sheffield
JanineGC Gatecrasher catch up Ferry Corsten, ahead of his 3 hour set at the Gatecrasher 15th Birthday event, at their spiritual home in Sheffield.
GC: Described as the ?architect, pioneer and instigator? of trance, what are your thoughts on the scene as a whole?
Ferry: Trance has come a long way since it?s heyday in the late nineties. It has gone through a phase of progressive, harder , electro and it looks like it?s slowly going back to it roots. In my opinion, if done right, trance is the most innovative music genre out there.
GC: With numerous Dutch Gold awards and UK Top 40 hits for your productions, which are you more, a DJ or a Producer?
Ferry: -In the beginning, I used to say that I was more of a producer than a DJ. I was lucky to break into the scene through the success of my own music productions in the late nineties. However, due to that success, I was able to release a number of compilations called Trance Nation with Ministry of Sound which kicked off my career as a DJ. After all these years, I would say that I am definitely both? a producer and a DJ. I spend just as much time (sometimes even more due to travelling ) DJing as I have sitting in the studio late at night to finish a track. The difference nowadays, is that I work on my productions a lot on the road as I do not have the luxury to wait to get home to start on a track.
GC: With such a hectic schedule, how does Ferry Corsten unwind and relax?
Ferry: When you?re really busy, you really get to enjoy the simple things in life. I am so happy when I get to come home, hang in my own couch, sleep in my own bed, and eat a great home cooked meal.
GC: What is your current top 5?
Ferry: 1. Masters & Nickson ft. Justine Suissa - 5Th Dimension (Daniel Kandi Bangin' Mix)
2. Off Key - Showdown (Ali Wilson & Scott Attrill Remix)
3. Re:Locate & Menno de Jong ? Spirit (Paul Miller 2008 Rework)
4. Embrace ? Embrace (Ferry Fix)
5. Solarstone - 4Ever
GC: What piece of advice would you give to any DJ aspiring to be the next Ferry Corsten?
Ferry: I always tell people to trust themselves and to follow their own path. You can be successful in copying other people but you can have success and earn a lot more respect if you do things in your own unique way.
GC: Which DJs do you predict to be hot for 2008 /09?
Ferry: I?ve been pretty impressed with the last productions and DJ sets of Bart Claessen. He?s been putting out some real powerful productions and remixes. Casey Keyworth ?Breakfast? has been travelling with me on a couple of tours now and I?m very impressed with his DJ skills and of course his productions.
GC: You have played for Gatecrasher on numerous occasions, most recently at the Gatecrasher Resurrection at Magna in March. You will be back to headline their 15th Birthday Event back in their spiritual home of Sheffield. Why do you think Gatecrasher have continued to be successful after so many years?
Ferry: Gatecrasher has continued to be successful after so many years because they have managed to work with the times. Whereas a lot of brands have fallen off the map or are struggling to keep up with the way big shows are produced nowadays, Gatecrasher has persevered.
GC: You have always had a special relationship with the crowd at Gatecrasher. What makes it so aspecial?
Ferry: I guess because Gatecrasher was one of those clubs that helped make trance music the success . it is today. I was looking at a Gatecrasher Classic CD a few months back and saw how many of my production contributed to that classic CD.
GC: What can the Gatecrasher crowd expect from you at the 15th Birthday event?
Ferry: 3 hours of massive energy.
GC: What is Ferry Corsten up to for the rest of 2008 and moving into the New Year?
Ferry: Ferry is working very hard to finish his latest artist album taking a bit of time off after that to enjoy some important things in life ;)

Woo this is going to be mega! I haven't seen Ferry since PaSSion in May.
Shame it can't be at The Republic, but The Carling Academy is a really good venue, and at least it's actually in Sheffield, unlike Magna. I'll be heading to The Howard first for a few drinks.
I'd really love to hear Insolation, Ligaya or Tenshi on the night, but whatevery Ferry plays I know it'll be an immense set. Both times I've seen him play for Crasher, once at Nottingham Ice arena and oce at The Republic in August 2006, I was blown away.
If I felt a bit younger I'd consider doing both nights, but to be honest I was a little disppointed with the vibe at Crasher Nottingham when I went to see Armin there in May this year.

well a mate of mine had a spare ticket and a space in his car...
Unfortunately i have to work in cardiff til 7 tonight so i couldn't go - so i've been girlfriend of the year and offered the seat to my boyfriend (despite it being my birthday weekend this weekend) who is now sooooo excited!!
In return i am getting a wii this week, a new cyber outfit and a special surprise present... i think it's a fair deal :)

Sheila
09-21-2008, 05:21 PM
Ferry played one of the best sets I have seen in AGES!!!!!! Maybe even of the year for me but I see him so often that all the nights have mushed into one and I can't remember which one is which anymore! Haha! But really, he tore the place apart from start to finish! It was insaneeeeeee!!! I couldn't stop dancing and screaming and spilling my drinks over everyone the entire time...haha sorry guys! The atmosphere in the place was just huge, Ferry had an awesome time, he was absolutely loving it up there! I so can't wait to see him again now... looking at coming back over to London in November for the next party, last night left me on such a high!
A million thanks to Ferry for playing Solstice, what a legend! You absolutely made Mike's night babe :) It was so awesome to see the gang again as well! We are now back at Ant's just chilling out before we head to the airport to head home and get back to reality tomorrow! Booooh, but oh well. Thank you Ant for driving all our asses there and back... Mike had a great birthday. I think I have spoiled him enough for the rest of the year!
Can't wait to see you all again! It is always too few and far in between so will be looking at coming to London in November for sure! But at least when we do get together, it is always so much fun! So tired now and can't be assed to get on a plane home... but it's a hard life and someone has to do it!
I am sure someone else will post a tracklist because I am too lazy :p
p.s. Armin also rocked it, but not as much as Ferry! I think this is the first time in a long time I haven't told Ferry he sucks :p

I think this is the first time in a long time I haven't told Ferry he sucks :p
Haha, this made me laugh! :p
I can't wait for more reports, pics and movies!
It's a fair while since I've posted here but really feel I have to as that was a great set from Ferry. Armin was good but not too many surprises track-wise, plus the dancefloor was much more crowded = less enjoyable for me.
Remy wasn't there for whatever reason, so Riley & Durrant warmed up instead. Ferry came on for an 11:30pm - 2:30am set and started with I think the new Richard Durand - Papillon and Wippenberg - Chakalaka. There was a mashup of Super8 & Tab - Elektra with the vocal from Nadia Ali - Crash & Burn, it was awesome to hear Solarstone - Spectrum (Duderstadt Remix) and... Sun Decade - I'm Alone! I think it was the Stoneface & Terminal Dub of that rather than the Mirco de Govia Dub from way back when but it's a choon either way...
Probably about an hour in or so he dropped Binary Finary - 1999 (Gouryella Remix), then into System F - Out Of The Blue (Violin Edit). Galaxia was in there, plus Brainbox and Radio Crash, Georgia - Ode To '99, Art Of Trance - Madagascar (can't remember now but I think there was some more mashup action going on with this), Embrace (Ferry Fix) and Masters & Nickson feat. Justine Suissa - 5th Dimension (Daniel Kandi Bangin Mix).
I've not been following too closely what's been going on in other recent sets but I swear Ferry played a version of Vimana - We Came, didn't quite sound like the original. And Solstice - awesome!
Sheila
09-22-2008, 10:00 AM
Yeah! He played so many awesome tracks I had not heard in ages!!!!! Sun Decade... OMG I couldn't believe he played that!!!! Such a great tune! Mike and I were going nuts! Haha! I missed the first half an hour of Ferry, I had no idea he was starting so early so we rocked up for midnight! But it was still the best set ever... the more I think about it the more I wanna go baaaaack
Twan, could you hear me screaming down the phone when he played 5th Dimension? I also called you during Solstice but I think I hung up too quickly because I was jumping around too much :p

09-22-2008, 11:31 AM
Haha, yeah I could hear you (and Eve?) sing (naah, it was screaming! :p ), but I was at a party and I tried to recognize the song, but I couldn't ID it until you screamed it in my ear, hahaha!
And yeah, you called me again, but that was 3 seconds, haha!
I wanna see pics and moviiiieeees! :D
Sheila
09-22-2008, 12:10 PM
Haha no that wasn't Eve :p
I didn't take many pics, but I will put up when I do have. Mike's cousin Brendan took a few movies on his phone which I can upload later!

I thought that's what it was but then thought I might just have been getting confused! It wasn't just a straight mashup either, Ferry's added a few extra bits of production in there as well, so you even think there's a third tune coming in at one point.

even though we got in a little past 12 and missed about 20mins of ferry's set...it's still soooo good!! the start of the set should not vary much from the set he played in nottingham the night before but god daaaaaamn, the remaining 2 hours or so was immense!!@£$%^& it could be down to the crowd in gatecrasher sheffield..i was just surrounded with people i know from all over!!
however, gotta say just before armin came on, the crowd started to get abit more pushy. u get all these people pushing from behind, blehhh...HOWEVER, considering the tunes ferry was churning out...waahhyeaayaeaaayeaa...SOLSTICE)*)@£(_$(%_^_( £$%@£_£@£_(!!! havent heard that out loud for almost 2 years now!! awww sucha special moment!! so nice to see mike smiling ear-to-ear too!! haha! :D
